Review - Boston Burger Company

This place is perfect in every sense. I got Cobb salad, and a chili. I also enjoyed a perfect amount of three dollar beers. My girl had a bacon cheeseburger with some of the most comfortable steak fries you ever tasted. The kids got plain cheeseburgers and hamburgers. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was terrific. The portions were spot on with little take home and no chance you would leave hungry. We also enjoyed mozzarella sticks as our only appetizer. The kids also had chocolate milk and water to drink. Hey this place has only been open a week and they have a great start to build upon.

One thing. Please don't ask to take my menu when it is part of my place setting.

Really, I just found your 300+ dollar phone??? Part II

So I get home with this phone and it's a Samsung galaxy s II and the phone has been ringing for the last 10 miles of the ride. As soon as I get my helmet and gloves off I call the number that has been trying to reach me.

Now usually, people are frazzled and super excited when you call them back. Here is how our conversation went:

Me: hello!

Bastid: who is this?

Me: hi, I have your phone!

Bastid: who is this?

Me: I am the person who found your phone.

Bastid: what's your name?

Me: I am not sure that matters. I found your phone and I'm I'm townX.

Bastid: townx?? What is it doing all the way in townX?!?!

Me: I was riding and saw it in townY the road and picked it up and called it when I could.

Bastid: oh I'm from townY, that makes sense. Now I have to go all the way to townX.

After figuring out a time that was convenient for her I told her that it would be in my mailbox. I did not want to meet her.

I am attempting to update the page using my iPhone. I am laying on an ottoman and an episode of glee is on tv. I am less than enthused at the moment.

Words With Friends Strategy (Top 10)

10.  Do not lead players into DW and TW tile spaces.
If you have a word that you are proud of yourself for creating, rethink the play if it will run adjacent to a Double Word or Triple Word score.  There is no point in playing some great 15pt word if your opponent can come up with some three letter word to net them 30+ pts.

9.  Always look to create two or more full words from your play.
If you create a word of another it is easy to see that you will get on average twice as many points.

8.  Lead Players into DW and TL places
Create words with tempting letters near DW and TW spaces, but do not allow for your opponent to take advantage of them.

7.  Learn the tiny hi point words....
QI is one of them, on a TL or TW space its a life saver.

6.  Try to play without cheating.
Your brain is smarter than the web.  Don’t use cheating apps or anagram finders.

5.  Try to create words by running a word alongside another word.
Below the word "AGAIN" one could play "NONSENSE" and create the words AN,GO,AN,IS, and NE.

4.  At first, try to exhaust all of your letters.
This may seem trivial, but sometimes you get stuck on the word in front of your face and a bigger one is out there.

3.  Reject players that stink
You cannot soar with the Word eagles if you are flying with turkeys.

2.  Never swap out high point letters of values 4 and above.
Don't do it.  If you are going to ever have a chance at this game, learn words with these letters.

1.  Do not play Hi point two letter words instead of 5-6 letter low scoring words.
Doing this restricts the amount of letters you have coming through your rack.  If you waste a turn playing two letter words instead of high letter count words you will certainly not get more high point single letters and thus never have a chance to create super-high point words.

Tim Tebow goes against the New England Patriots ! ! !

I was a huge fan of the Denver Broncos in the past, so i figured i weigh in on the greatness that is this weeks matchup between the Broncos and the Patriots.  I am thinking that Tebow will definately have his way via the pass with the patriots.  I also think that the constant threat of him running the ball is one that the patriots are not able to defend.  Tom Brady and the Patriots will also have a fantastic showing via the pass.  With a bevy of options at WR and a half way decent running back cadre, they should shine quite brightly.

eBay scam Alert

Hi all.  Here is an interesting tidbit that you could potentially fall for while dealing on ebay.  It does fall under the "dont talk to folks outside the ebay structured forms of communication" rule.

I had someone contact me using the ebay message system.  They proceeded to ask me to call them on the phone to discuss the broken apple device part that I was selling.  We talked for a while and decided that i send him the item for a price that is higher than what the current price was at auction.  It was about 60 dollars more than the current bid.  After talking more I ended up suggesting and selling the entire broken item.  It was now about 495 which was injected into paypal.  I closed the auction and sent the item.  The buyer claimed that the item did not show up in his mail room and since i did not have signature confirmation it was a loss.  I refunded the money.

Why i fell for something so stupid:
1. the initial amount that they wanted to pay was not exorbant.
2. it was my idea to send the entire unit for more money.
3. it seemed that i did not need signature confirmation for a broken item when i was buying postage

In the end, if its too good to be true, its a scam.  This is a well disguised scam, although it seems like it is not.

Mm   ;)

A whole new approach...

I am working on getting the MarshMelon YouTube channel partnered. I have a problem... I cannot rip videos as cleanly as i do and monetize them. I would like to figure out how I can still play games without showing them. I do not think I can claim "Fair use" in the manner that I currently rip games. Help me out ! ! ! Comment below on what you think.

This is Scud Hammer...

Good Morning.

I figured I would spend a few moments to discuss the influx of emulated classic games that showed up on the MarshmelonCom Youtube channel. This channel is devoted to me hacking through my first experience with the games upon first disc insertion. Sometimes, if a game is good, I will continue to play and drop vids of funny stuff that happens.

On this night-morning 1/6-1/7/2011, here is what happened. I dont really need sleep, maybe three hours in a 24hr cycle. I need things to do that are not really work related to achieve balance. Strange, maybe... It may be stranger that I choose to discuss it.

OK enough.

So I have this 8-core machine doing nothing, that I did a BSEL mod tor raise it from 1.6 to 2ghz. Ive always wanted to rip 1080p realtime computer environments for windows, maybe tutorials or whatever. Problem: the sound did not work. I had this old SB Live card that windows 7 x64 does not support. I got it working using drivers found at the www.kxproject.com website. So I decided to fire up an emulator and see what I could get going. I'm truely was great at many classic games, but not with an XBOX 360 contoller. Then them stick is not ment for twitch games.

Now it was time to fire up some games and test different resolutions for capture.

I decided to fire up Contra first (vertical game). I did horrible. I then proceeded to embarras myself through Mr. Do Run Run (Horizontal Game), Double Dribble (Horz different res), Food Fight (because i was suckin so bad, I tried to start a non twitch game. Epic Fail), Darius Gaiden II (3 Horizontal oriented monitors!), Tron(trying to get hits, based off movie success), and then...

Scud Hammer

I picked this game because I remember it being odd. It did not dissappoint. It is a simple rock-paper-scissors game. I am guessing that you would have gotten tickets for physically abusing your apponent after you win a round. The art is simply great. The abuse portion of the game feels fluid and realistic. The character stereotypes are amazingly off the wall.

Do not get me wrong, this game is an abismal wreck. That does not mean it is not funny as hell!

That is Scud Hammer.

What is this up my shirt.

This weekend I was sick, really sick. I had a fever with hot and cold flashes. This is usually a warning sign for me to get my Crohns infiltrated gastro system checked. Since this fever was accompanied by a New England nose cold, which is runny one second and blocked the next (changes like the weather), I ruled out CD flare up. Oh did I forget to mention that I have been crippled by a left leg that has doubled in size? This Wikipedia self-diagnosed ailment is embarrassingly referred to as "House Maids Knee".

Sunday night I decided to lay on my back with my leg raised at 45degrees with my calf up on an ottoman. I placed a huge zip lock bag on my knee filled with ice from the freezer. Camping out on the floor of my living room when I am sick is a ritual. I cannot stand being feverish on a soft mattress surface wrapped in blankets. I have ruined sheets in the past with night sweats.

After being up till 1am watching pre-taped history channel and food network, I fell asleep. I taped some shows during Sunday night football in anticipation of a sleepless night. I surely could not tolerate commercials.

6AM (Monday Morning)

I woke up in exactly the same position I set myself. My eyes just open when I wake up, with no movement. This is likened to how a vampire wakes up. I got this trait from my dad. It appeared that the bag of ice(now water) has run down my leg and flowed its way to the small of my back. I lazily proceed to reach to the small of my back to confirm my suspicion. I find a hard ball that looked like a corn puff.

Still laying on my back i say to myself "I didn’t eat any corn puffs last night". I ate a lot (feed a fever) but no corn puffs. Oh well, since it was dry, I guessed the bag did not break. I proceeded to reposition my back and felt what appeared to be corn puffs breaking. Then I laid perfectly still and they started to move.

I then jumped up onto my house maids knee and pulled my shirt off like I was a wrestler after entering the ring, and threw it to the ground. Just as the shirt hit the floor, a mouse ran from its stinky snack shack.

I went to tell my wife who took the Ronald Reagan Star Wars approach to the problem (4 traps!!!). I will most likely update later with the story of its inevitable demise.

If you think your Monday morning stinks, I hope this made you feel a bit better.

Mm

Cant really get a preorder printout under the Xmas Tree can you...

The NINTENDO 3DS coming Feb 2011 Press conference in January:

Although it had been discussed before then, speculation about a true successor to the Nintendo DS series began to ramp up in late 2009. In mid-October, tech tabloid Bright Side of News* reported that graphics processing unit (GPU) developer Nvidia had won the microprocessor contract for the device with its Nvidia Tegra system-on-a-chip series.[10] Later that month, speaking about the future for Nintendo's portable consoles, company president Satoru Iwata mentioned that while mobile connectivity via subscription mobile broadband "doesn't fit Nintendo customers," he was interested in exploring an option similar to the Whispernet service for the Amazon Kindle, in which users are not charged for the mobile connectivity, and the costs are cross-subsidized.[11]

Though Nintendo has expressed interest in including motion-sensing capabilities in its handhelds since before the release of the original Nintendo DS,[12] in January 2010 an alleged comment by Satoru Iwata from an interview with Asahi Shimbun led to a minor dispute between the publication and Nintendo over whether Iwata confirmed that the successor to the Nintendo DS would incorporate a motion sensor.[13] Later that month, analyst Jesse Divnich of Electronic Entertainment Design and Research (EEDAR) stated that the firm believes that Nintendo will launch a Nintendo DS successor "within the next 15 months."[7][14]

In February 2010, video gaming website Computer and Video Games (CVG) reported that a select "handful" of Japanese developers were in possession of software development kits (SDKs) for the Nintendo DS successor, with The Pokémon Company given special priority. According to CVG's insider at an unspecified third-party development studio, the hardware features a "tilt" function that is similar to that of the iPhone, "but does a lot more." The insider noted that the distributed hardware is not for the final product, but of trial hardware for developers to provide feedback on.[15]

In March 2010, veteran video game journalist Raymond Padilla reported additional rumors about a Nintendo DS successor from the San Francisco Game Developers Conference. According to developers claiming to be working on the system, the handheld would feature two display screens like the Nintendo DS, but with bigger, higher-resolution display screens, and a smaller gap between them—negligible enough that they can be used together as a single large screen. An accelerometer would be incorporated into the device. The SDK is reportedly "similar in power to the GameCube," with an easy learning curve for developers familiar working with Nintendo's GameCube or Wii home consoles. The developers claimed that their games for the new handheld would be finished before the end of the year, which Padilla said indicates a likely announcement of the console at E3 2010 in June, and a launch in late 2010.[16] In the same month, several developers spoke publicly about features they wished to see in a Nintendo DS successor, including stronger online functionality,[17] dual multi-touch screens,[18] a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver, and 3G mobile broadband connectivity.[19] On March 23, Nintendo officially announced the Nintendo 3DS.[20] According to industry analysts, the timing of Nintendo's original announcement, which had drawn attention away from the launch of the company's still-new Nintendo DSi XL handheld, was likely intended to preempt impending news leaks about the product by the Japanese press.[21]

In April 2010, a picture of a possible development build of the internal components of the 3DS was released as part of a U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) filing by Mitsumi.[22] An analysis of the image showed that it was likely genuine as it featured components known to be used in the Nintendo DS line along with features of the 3DS that had not been announced like a 5:3 top screen, and a control nub similar to those used in Sony PSP systems.[23]

E3 Unveiling
In June 2010, video gaming website IGN reported that according to "several developers who have experienced 3DS in its current form", the system possesses processing power that "far exceed[s] the Nintendo Wii" and with 3D shaders, they could make games that "look close to current generation visuals on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3". They also cited "several developer sources" as saying that the system does not use the Nvidia Tegra mobile chipset.[24]

The system was officially revealed at Nintendo's conference at E3 2010 on June 15, 2010. The first game revealed was Kid Icarus: Uprising, with several other titles from third parties also announced, including Square Enix with Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, Konami with Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater 3D, Warner Bros. Interactive with a Batman title, Ubisoft with Assassin's Creed: Lost Legacy, Capcom with Resident Evil: Revelations and Super Street Fighter 4 3D Edition, and Activision with DJ Hero. Other Nintendo titles were later revealed after the conference, such as Mario Kart 3DS, a remake of Star Fox 64,[25] Animal Crossing and a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in 3D.[26] On July 29, 2010, it was officially announced that the 3DS release date & price would be announced on September 29, 2010.[27] The 3DS design shown at E3 is almost final, and is subject to minor changes.[28]

September 29 Conference
On September 29, 2010, Nintendo of Japan announced the release date of the Nintendo 3DS in Japan to be February 26, 2011. North America, Europe and Australia would all have March 2011 as their release dates. Furthermore, several additional features were announced. The inclusion of a Mii Studio (similar to the Mii Channel on Wii), Virtual Console (including Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and "Classic Games" in 3D), a cradle for recharging the system's battery, multitasking, several included augmented reality games, included 2 gigabyte SD card, and stored game data as well as the final name for the 3DS tag mode, now called StreetPass and SpotPass collectively. The colors available at launch will be Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black, and the launch price in Japan will be 25,000 yen . [29] The final physical design was also revealed at this event.[30]

January 19 conference
On January 19, 2011, Nintendo will be holding a press conference where it is expected the release date for the Nintendo 3DS will be announced for Europe. [31]
